Long - Acting Coronary Vasodilator Drugs :

چکیده
Recognition of the value of glyceryl trinitrate (nitroglycerine) in the treatment and pr evention of anginal attacks has confirmed the belief that coronarv blood flow may be influenced favorablv by drug therapy and has led to a search for vasodilators capable of more prolonged action. The most popular of the newer agents which are alleged to have this desirable effect are Metamine, Paveril, Nitroglyn and Peritrate. In order to evaluate these drugs, the modifying action of each agent on the electrocardiographic response to standard exercise (Master two-step test) was recorded and compared in 21 carefully selected patients with coronary disease. Analysis of the results obtained with varying dosage administered from one to six hours prior to exercise disclosed that Peritrate was vastly superior to the other three drugs and that it alone was worthy of the designation "long-acting coronary v-asodilator."

Clinical Evaluation of Anti-anginal Drugs with Particular Reference to Benziodarone, a New Coronary Vasodilator.
ALTHOUGH many long-acting coronary vasodilators have been introduced for the prophylactic treatment of angina pectoris few have survived a controlled objective study in which the main criterion of effectiveness is an improvement in the degree of myocardial ischoemia and not solely an alteration in the frequency or severity of anginal attacks. A new coronary vasodilator, benziodarone (Cardivix),...
متن کاملTreatment of Coronary Spastic Angina, Particularly Medically Refractory Coronary Spasm
Coronary spasm plays an important role in the pathogenesis of variant angina as well as ischaemic heart diseases. Treatment with vasodilators such as long-acting calcium channel blockers and long-acting nitrates is generally effective in preventing coronary spasm; however, in some patients coronary spasm is refractory to standard therapy. Because of endothelial dysfunction, hyper-reactivity of ...
متن کاملIntracoronary papaverine: an ideal coronary vasodilator for studies of the coronary circulation in conscious humans.
An ideal coronary vasodilator for studying coronary flow reserve in humans would rapidly produce maximal coronary vasodilation, be short acting to permit repeated measurements, and not alter systemic hemodynamics. The two commonly used vasodilators (dipyridamole and meglumine diatrizoate) do not satisfy these criteria; meglumine diatrizoate does not produce maximal hyperemia and dipyridamole ha...
متن کاملEnantioselective actions of bupivacaine and ropivacaine on coronary vascular resistance at cardiotoxic concentrations.
The main concern with the use of the long-acting local anesthetics bupivacaine and ropivacaine is inadvertent IV injection, which exposes the heart to toxic drug concentrations. We tested the hypothesis that these chiral anesthetics exert enantioselective actions on coronary vascular tone, the regulation of which does not involve voltage-gated Na(+) channels. Coronary perfusion pressure (CPP) w...
متن کاملAdverse Drug Reactions in the Post Coronary Care Unit Inpatients of a Teaching Hospital
The monitoring and reporting of adverse drug reactions (ADRs) in hospitals aims to identify and quantify the risks associated with the use of drugs. The present study was performed to characterize the rate and the pattern of ADRs, due to cardiovascular drugs and anticoagulants, in a tertiary care teaching hospital. For this purpose, all the patients treated with cardiovascular drugs and anticoa...
